Microprocessor-based intelligent reader for magnetic (swipe) cards. On-board data buffering and reliable communications interface to rest of system allowed for concurrent card reading/writing and access control. Utilises embedded microprocessor (8051-family), high speed asynchronous serial interface. Double-sided PCB utilising fine-pitch SMT components.
